Certificate IV in Ageing Support reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community-based environments.

Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.

Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limiter parameters.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

You will also develop skills to:

  • Provide person-centred support to the elderly, people with dementia, and people with  disabilities
  • Maintain the wellbeing of clients through personal care and how to provide them the services that meet their specific   needs
  • Coordinate services for different groups of older  people
  • Facilitate the planning and delivery of services for your  clients
  • Implement client interventions and manage compliance for legal and ethical  requirements

Course Delivery

This qualification is offered in an on-the-job capacity involving training and assessment in the workplace. Training will be delivered by one of our professional trainers with extensive industry experience. Facilitated off-job workshops at Work & Training premises are offered to supplement the training process.

The training utilises materials such as learner guides, relevant websites, video clips, and paper-based resources. Assessments will be conducted using knowledge, project, observation and competency conversation assessment tools.

This program is nationally-recognised and on successful completion you will be awarded with the qualification CHC43021 – Certificate IV in Ageing Support.

This program is offered over a maximum of 2 years for full-time employees and a maximum of 3 years for part-time employees. Students are able to complete earlier in negotiation with their Training Consultant.

Course Fees

The qualification will be delivered under a workplace traineeship arrangement, where funding may be available resulting in an $800 administration fee.
